概要	The objective of this study was to study mood changes in subjects while drawing face icons that consisted only of eyes and a mouth. The act of drawing smile icons was found to decrease the subjects’ ‘Tension - Anxiety,’ ‘Depression - Dejection,’ ‘Anger - Hostility,’ and ‘Fatigue’ scale scores on the short version of the Profile of Mood States (POMS) and to improve their mood. On the other hand, the act of drawing angry icons was found to decrease the subjects’ score on the ‘Vigor’ scale, increase their score on the ‘Anger – Hostility’ scale, and worsen their mood. This study is basic research for a program to maintain and improve life function by the psychological effect of a smile icon made from eyes and mouth parts.
