概要 This study is based on 72 former studies of formative assessment and formative evaluation in Japanese mathematics education. The number of studies, the subjects of studies, and their classification in each decade are summarized. The analysis of these results suggests that the research on formative assessment and formative evaluation in Japanese mathematics education is still under the strong influence of Bloom’s formative evaluation and is still at the stage before the paradigm shift in formative assessment research. In addition, the definitions of the concepts of formative evaluation and formative assessment are not consistent. These multiple factors may prevent the implementation of a consistent theory of assessment in Japanese mathematics education. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss formative assessment not only in the context of assessment methods; but also in relation to course’s prerequisite materials and teachers’ views on teaching and learning.
